From Friday, January 11,to Saturday, January 12, Greek students were invited to participate in the annual Greek Leadership Transition Retreat. The retreat, held at the Y Camp in Boone, was attended by incoming student leaders (council representatives, chapter presidents, and other chapter members in leadership positions) and university staff. Students were offered numerous break-out sessions discussing everything from risk management issues to alumni relations to brother and sisterhood. Students were also provided ample time to meet and hear from the Greek Affairs staff to help prepare themselves for the year ahead. Our group shot in the snow During one of the sessions

New Council Presidents Introduced
The new CPC, IFC, and NPHC councils have been installed and are ready to begin their year in office. MGC will elect new officers in the spring. An introduction of the Greek council presidents:Amalie Galm, Collegiate Panhellenic Council President Chapter: Sigma Kappa Junior in Marketing What are you most looking forward to in the coming year as a council president? Although there are many things that I am looking forward to in the coming year, I am most excited to work closely with all of the other councils in order to promote the highest welfare of Iowa State's Greek community. Dusty Kroll, Interfraternity Council President Chapter: Delta Tau Delta Senior in Marketing What are you most looking forward to in the coming year as a council president? I am looking forward to getting to know the incoming council and start working on ways to increase recruitment through a formal rush in the fall while improving interfraternalism between chapters. Daniel Varney, National Pan-Hellenic Council President Chapter: Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity Inc. Junior in Agriculture and Biosystem Engineering What are you most looking forward to in the coming year as a council president? I am looking forward to bringing back the spirit of the NPHC council and working to establish a group with unity so that we, as a community, will strive to great things together. Brian Castro, Multicultural Greek Council President Chapter: Sigma Lambda Beta Junior in Civil Engineering Brian will continue to serve as the president of MGC for the remainder of his term which will end after the spring semester.

Call for Desintation Iowa State Team Leaders
Guide the Adventure – Be a Destination Iowa State Team Leader!The New Student Programs Office is looking for energetic students that would like to share their excitement for Iowa State. Team Leaders are responsible for attending Destination Iowa State, August 21 – 23, 2008, and helping new students adjust to campus. A $200 stipend will be paid to Team Leaders for their hard work! For Alumni Advisor Groups
For your next advisory council meeting, think about possibly having the group answer the following questions. The questions are written to help you think about your role as an advisor and the experiences you bring to the position.Alumni Volunteer Discussion Questions: 1. What experiences in the fraternity/sorority motivated you to become an alumni volunteer? 2. What rewards do you find continue to motivate you to be involved as an alumni volunteer? 3. What challenges do you find in your working with undergraduates you advise? 4. What positive changes have happened in your role as an alumni volunteer since you first became involved? What positive changes did you expect to have happen that have not yet been realized? 5. What talents or strengths does the chapter appreciate you sharing with them? 6. What talents or strengths would you like to develop in your continued involvement with the fraternity/sorority? In what ways can the fraternity/sorority support that development? 7. Do you feel poor chapter performance reflects negatively on your performance as an alumni volunteer? 8. What area of advising students is the most difficult? 9. Which alumni can help you or the fraternity/sorority achieve your goals for serving undergraduate members? 10. Since you graduated from college/what lessons have you learned about yourself, your work style, or your management practices as a fraternity man/sorority woman?
