Preparing a spring philanthropy with food?
Anyone planning to prepare or serve food for an Iowa State student organization event needs to attend a 60-minute "SafeFood 101" training session. Participants learn how to safely prepare and serve food at temporary food establishments (BBQs, bake sales, fundraisers, etc.) and how to comply with Iowa Food Code even as a student organization with limited resources. Upon completion, each attendee receives a "SafeFood 101" card. Workers should have their cards available to present at all ISU food service events. Food service training is required for potentially hazardous foods that, if prepared or handled improperly, can cause food borne illness (hot or cold food items such as grilled meat, pizza, potato salad, fruit, etc). Training is not required for prepackaged items (wrapped candy, soda, chips, etc.). Spring "SafeFood 101" training dates, all begin @ 6:30 pm: Monday, February 2 Thursday, February 26 Tuesday, March 10 Reservations are required.
