LATHAM MEETS WITH ISU STUDENT TO DISCUSS HOUSING ISSUES FOR GREEK ORGANIZATIONS

Congressman Latham (center) and Daniel Fischer (second from left), GSB President

WASHINGTON, DC – Iowa Congressman Tom Latham met with ISU student and Farmhouse Fraternity member Daniel Fischer on Tuesday to discuss federal policies that affect sororities and fraternities at America’s colleges and universities.

Congressman Latham hosted Fischer and other representatives of the National Collegiate Fraternities and Sororities in his Washington office.

“I always enjoy listening to the viewpoints of student leaders,” Congressman Latham said. “It’s always a pleasure to sit down and talk with constituents about the issues that concern them.”

During the meeting, Congressman Latham addressed a bill that he is co-sponsoring that would allow tax-exempt educational and charitable groups to extend housing grants to fraternities and sororities.

Congressman Latham also supported the bill, known as the Collegiate Housing and Infrastructure Act of 2009, during the previous session of Congress.
